“ They've got delicious food and generous portions. Their smoked beans are amazing, and my wife is addicted to their sweet potato tots. The atmosphere is casual and comfortable. You order and pay at the counter, and then they bring it out to your table. You won't regret stopping here. Try Taco Tuesdays! ”
“ Great place for tasty food!! Not a lot of seating inside, but they have outdoor patio. You order your food in the line, then they bring it to you. All things we tried were very good. Smoked Salmon taco, and homemade chips with smoked onion dip...best chips ever! The Cuban, ham, bacon, pulled pork, and smoked bits...was super!! Comes with a mustard sauce, then more sauces on table... I liked the sweet on mine, complimented it well! The bread pudding was also wonderful, great flavor!! Check out the restaurant when you are in Decorah!!! ”
“ This Q snob from Texas can only say “hats off!” to the Old Armory! Modest space in a strip center, but the food is outstanding! Giant portions! Amazing sauce array...even the blueberry was good, but the Carolina and chipotle were more to my taste. Ribs were super tender, big portion, and excellent rub/bark! Mac n cheese is a must! Only suggestion would be a multi-meat platter to try smaller amounts of several items. Very reasonable prices for the quality and quantity! Kudos!!! ”
“ We stopped in here for a quick bite and boy were we happy we did. Food amazing, how quick our food was ready amazing, staff amazing. We had brisket and it was so tender and juicy. The ribs pulled off the bone clean. The Mac and Cheese was amazing! Daughter's street Tacos were amazing. On thing the I need to mention is their homemade potatoes salad. This gets 12 stars!!!! I loved it, so creamy and delicious with hits of dill. Grandkids had a hamburger. Oh, I almost forgot the corn muffins. Definitely. Ade from scratch and I detected they must us creamed corn in the recipe. Super moist and delicious. If in Decorah, Iowa, and looking for an excellent meal with hearty proportions look no farther than Old Armory BBQ. ”
“ The food is awesome! My husband ordered the brisket platter (22) with mac & cheese, coleslaw, and corn muffin. It was a huge amount of food. I ordered potato wedges and sweet pepper slaw, 3.50 each. We also ordered the apple pie (4), which was served hot, with caramel drizzle and whipped cream. The mac had a slight smokey flavor that my husband enjoyed. He tried all 5 of the bbq sauces and liked the Chipotle the most. We both agreed that the corn muffin and apple pie were the best of each that we ever had at a restaurant. We will definitely be spreading the word in Minnesota how great this food is! We will be back! ”
“ Completely unknown spot as a tourist, walked across the street from Pulpit Rock wanting to put some food in me before I sampled beers, and I was floored. The pastrami Reuben was (expletive) good. Like slap my wife good. And she slaps back. Carolina mustard BBQ sauce was so freaking good I got a bottle to fly home on the plane. Double socked that bad boy. Seriously, both of things were among the best I've ever had and, cousin, I've downed A LOT of freaking BBQ growing up and traveling around the south. If this one person's experience is telling, you want to go out of your way to stop here. ”
“ Partner got a Cuban and Sweet Potato Tots, I got a Brisket Sandwich and Wedges. We both got the corn muffin. 10/10 juicy meat, I’d come back here again when I visit Dunnings Spring again. My partner licked his plate clean and he’s PICKY! Very chill in there it felt more casual. ”
“ Had the brisket with smoked baked beans and mac & cheese. All three were tremendous! The whole universe and then some are afraid of dry brisket. This was not! You are completely safe ordering the brisket because it was very moist... and therfore, very good. Service was great, very prompt with the food and clean. Men's bathroom was very clean. That's always a sign of someone who takes pride in the store. This is a great BBQ restaurant. You should come. I highly recommend it. ”
